Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Will Fill In Blanks Left By Avengers: Age Of Ultron; Kevin Feige Explains Infinity Gauntlet Teaser

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron may have been a bloody good time, culminating on the Phase 2 foundations with aplomb, but such is the scale and ambition of Joss Whedon's superhero follow-up that news of plot holes is hardly surprising. Thankfully, during a recent interview with /Film, the company's head honcho Kevin Feige revealed that a handful of said blanks will be explained through upcoming episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron may have been a bloody good time, culminating on the Phase 2 foundations with aplomb, but such is the scale and ambition of Joss Whedon’s superhero follow-up that news of plot holes is hardly surprising. Thankfully, during a recent interview with /Film, the company’s head honcho Kevin Feige revealed that a handful of said blanks will be explained through upcoming episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, all the while touching on Ultron‘s mid-credits sequence.

Spoilers for Age of Ultron follow….

You may recall the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where Joe and Anthony Russo’s actioner witnessed the tentacles of Hydra infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D. and ultimately sabotage the company’s prized helicarriers. How, then, was Nick Fury able to recover one of the airborne weapons of mass destruction following the events over the skies of Washington D.C.?

It was a strand that wasn’t explained fully in Age of Ultron, though Feige hinted that those narrative pieces will fall into place over the coming weeks on Marvel’s adjacent show.

Now, when Nick Fury goes away and comes back with a Helicarrier, that seems like a big chunk of off screen story. Is that something we might see referenced on SHIELD?

Feige: I think it’s fair to say you could fill in some of those blanks in the coming weeks on Tuesday at 9.

As for the mid-credits scene, one which saw galactic overlord Thanos wield the Infinity Gauntlet, Feige confirmed that the all-powerful glove wasn’t retrieved from Odin’s vault; instead, the Mad Titan has the Gauntlet locked up in his own form of safekeeping. Will we ever find out how Thanos retrieved said gem? Here’s what the Marvel executive had to share.

Where is the Infinity Gauntlet when we see it in the credits? Wasn’t it in Odin’s Vault?

KEVIN FEIGE: Ah, well, I won’t tell you too much but he is not grabbing it from Odin’s Vault. That is not [Odin’s Vault].

So wherever that is has been thought out, is specific and will be answered?

FEIGE: Yes.

Ultimately, the fact that Thanos is now in possession of the Gauntlet only spells danger for the Avengers. As for those Age of Ultron plot holes, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. picked up the pieces last time Earth’s Mightiest Heroes laid siege to the box office, dovetailing the ‘Incident at New York’ into the show’s main plot line, so it’ll be interesting to learn how the show explains the calamitous showdown this time around.
