As is the case with any TV show, various in-jokes and seemingly innocuous additions to the mythology can be made throughout the years, thus making us wonder if and when they’ll be paid off. When it comes to Arrow, viewers have been asking about the dangling thread that is Smoak Technologies for some time now.

Having been previously referenced when the Waverider crew ventured to Star City in the year 2046 during Legends of Tomorrow season 1, as well as being part of a virtual experience in Arrow‘s portion of the “Invasion!” crossover during its fifth year, it’s become hard to ignore the possibility that Felicity Smoak will one day found her own company.

Though she may have been somewhat vague in her statement, new showrunner Beth Schwartz offered the following teaser during a recent discussion with TV Line:

“It has to do with Smoak Tech. It’s possible you might see something like that this season.”

Keep in mind that Schwartz used the word “might” in her statement, but letting that name slip during a sit down with such a reputable outlet was no mistake. If you were to ask me, it’s very possible that Helix Dynamics could undergo a rebranding of sorts within the next twelve months.

As is to be expected, Mrs. Green Arrow herself isn’t in the best spirits these days, for Schwartz had this to add regarding Oliver Queen being in prison:

“Felicity is definitely coping the worst, I would say [out of all Team Arrow members]. It’s been tough for her.”

I guess we’ll find out how she’s been dealing with things when Arrow returns for its seventh season on Monday, October 15 on The CW.
