Arrow’s Stephen Amell Reveals If He’d Ever Play A Marvel Character

With Arrow being set to end its impressive run later this year, I'm sure many fans are wondering what Stephen Amell will do following the eighth and final season. Actually, I'm pretty certain he remains determined to take a long vacation, but he's got to get back to acting at some point.

With Arrow being set to end its impressive run later this year, I’m sure many fans are wondering what Stephen Amell will do following the eighth and final season. Actually, I’m pretty certain he remains determined to take a long vacation, but he’s got to get back to acting at some point.

Unsurprisingly, there remain those who’d like for him to join the club populated by numerous actors who’ve played characters for both DC and Marvel. In the past, this was an idea Amell joked about and possibly even toyed with, but now his career is further along and he’s gained more perspective.

While speaking at MegaCon in Orlando over the weekend, Stephen answered a fan’s question regarding whether he’d ever bat for the Marvel team by saying the following:

“I don’t know, man. I do know that I think there’s a negative connotation surrounding being typecast. What you want as an actor…is that the big thing you do as an actor is get work int he first place. So how do you get typecast? You get typecast because you get work. And you do something to the point that there’s a distinction to it and that distinction makes people identify you with that type of character. I don’t know what I’m going to do. That’s one of the reasons that it’s time for me to move on is that I want to get my hat back in the ring. That’s a new character, that’s a Marvel character, that’s a DC character, whatever — we’ll see.”

At this point, it’d be wise to never say never, but I’m assuming Amell’s next job will probably be quite different from Arrow. Still, he has to put food on the table for his family like anyone else, so let’s not rule out him ever showing up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In fact, he has been associated with another comic book-based franchise, as Amell played Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. But in truth, that’s not quite the same thing as playing a superhero like Oliver Queen.

Tell us, though, would you like to see Stephen Amell suit up as a Marvel character once Arrow has wrapped? If so, which one? Feel free to share your ideas in the comments section below!
