As the first episode of the sophomore season of Gotham approaches, Fox has released nine new images, giving us a look at some of the main players that we’ll be seeing.

This year it’s all about the “rise of the villains,” which is evident from the bad guys that dominate these stills. There’s the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), would-be-Catwoman Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell), newcomers Theo (James Frain) and Tabitha Galavan/Tigress (Jessica Lucas), and a couple of do-gooders in the form of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) to balance things out.

The most interesting image features Theo Galavan and another, unidentified individual who appears to be wearing some kind of supervillain(hero?) outfit. We’ve been told that as the show progresses the villains are going to begin to get a bit more theatrical and start to don costumes, but does anyone have any idea who this guy is?

Anyway, we’re sure to find out when Gotham returns on September 21 with its season 2 premiere, “Damned If You Do.” Until then, check out the gallery above and let us know what you’re expecting from the show’s sophomore outing.
