Having debuted in the Crisis on Earth-X crossover a few months back, this alternate take on the character decided to stick around on Earth-1 for the time being, effectively kicking off what’s expected to be actor Wentworth Miller’s final run in the Arrowverse. Sure, it’s not quite the same as the Snart we originally came to love, but this level of comic book craziness is something we’ve come to embrace.

As such, it should come as a surprise to none that he’ll be anything but a permanent fixture aboard the Waverider. Actually, this came up in a recent discussion that executive producer Marc Guggenheim engaged in with Entertainment Weekly. Here’s what he had to say regarding our frosty friend:

“Leo never says ‘I’m staying with the team permanently.’ He has said, ‘I’m gonna stay until they get over their death, until they mourn the death of Stein.’ And you see that happen and Leo leaves with— he has a really good reason to leave. And he’s leaving for a very, I think, positive reason. And he leaves with, I’d say, a really good piece of advice for Sara.”

Odds are that “good reason” has something to do with getting back to his lover, The Ray, who probably has his hands full on their war-torn world. But, if you have any persistent fears, Guggenheim soon alleviated them, assuring that “he’s not dying.”

Legends of Tomorrow returns with new episodes later tonight on The CW.
