The CW Seed Twitter account shared the key artwork, which depicts Slade Wilson laying waste to some HIVE soldiers in a tropical forest somewhere (Lian Yu, maybe?). “No mercy,” read the caption. “Deathstroke is coming soon to CW Seed.”

It’s not clear at present whether Manu Bennett will reprise his fan favorite turn as the anti-villain for the animation, but seeing as the New Zealand-born star has portrayed the Mirakuru-powered assassin on and off on Arrow since season 1, we’d expect this to be the case. Especially as CW Seed’s animations have always previously managed to get the live-action talent to lend their voices.

If you’ll recall, Vixen was the first animated spinoff, with Megalyn Echikunwoke playing Mari McCabe – a character she later carried over onto Arrow season 4. The web series was soon followed by Freedom Fighters: The Ray and Constantine: City of Demons, which brought back “Elseworlds” star Russell Tovey and Legends of Tomorrow‘s Matt Ryan as well.

For a while there, we were told to expect no more of Wilson in the Arrowverse as DC were busy making a Deathstroke movie with Joe Manganiello. With that project on hold though, it seems the TV shows are free to use the character again. Titans will also add its own version of the Terminator in its second season, as played by Esai Morales.

No release date has been attached to the Deathstroke animated series as yet, but going by the timeframe from announcement to arrival of the previous CW Seed animations, my best guess would be early 2020.
