Marvel’s Daredevil Series Gains Four More Cast Members

Marvel may have missed out on showing off their upcoming Daredevil series at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, but the studio made up for it in spades this weekend when they brought the Man Without Fear to NYCC. Marvel may have missed out on showing off their upcoming Daredevil series at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, but the studio made up for it in spades this weekend when they brought the Man Without Fear to NYCC. Not only did we finally get our first look at Charlie Cox in costume as the titular vigilante, but we now know who Rosario Dawson will be playing and also received information on four exciting new cast additions: Ayelet Zurer, Bob Gunto, Toby Moore and Vondie Curtis Hall.

Zurer, best known for her role in Angels & Demons and for playing Superman’s Kryptonian birth mother in last year’s Man of Steel, will play Vanessa Marianna, an art dealer who becomes the wife of notorious crime boss Wilson Fisk a.k.a. The Kingpin (played by Vincent D’Onofrio). According to Marvel, her “chance meeting with Wilson Fisk dramatically changes their lives.”

Bob Gunto of Shawshank Redemption fame will play Leland Owlsley, an “enigmatic and key figure in Wilson Fisk’s crusade to remake Hell’s Kitchen.” He’s also a supervillain in his own right, known as The Owl in the comics.

Toby Leonard Moore (The Pacific, John Wick) will play Wesley, “right-hand man and confidante to WIlson Fisk,” while Emmy nominee Vondie Curtis Hall (ER, Chicago Hope) will take on the role of Ben Urich, an investigative journalist “at the New York Bulletin who’ll soon find himself drawn into a war for the soul of Hell’s Kitchen.”

In the comics, Urich works for the Daily Bugle and uncovers the secret identities of both Daredevil and Spider-Man. As Spider-Man is currently owned by Sony, the change to the New York Bulletin makes sense. With time, Urich strikes a sort of deal with Daredevil and the two work in tandem and usedone another as sources of information. He was played by Joe Pantoliano in the 2003 Daredevil film.

As always, we’ll keep you apprised of any new information regarding the series. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts about the new casting update in the comments section below.

Daredevil hits Netflix in 2015.
