‘Daredevil: Born Again’ star hints that more Netflix favorites may be incoming

There's still hope that some of The Defenders might return.

Filming for Daredevil: Born Again has begun and whilst details surrounding the show are scant, one of the shows stars, Michael Gandolfini, has given fans something to go on as he hints at some Netflix favorites making a return.

Whilst speaking with ET Canada about his upcoming Apple plus series Extrapolations, Gandolfini, son of legendary Sopranos actor James Gandolfini, was asked about his upcoming role in the Disney Plus Daredevil series. The actor expressed his excitement at being a part of the MCU and stated that fans would be happy to see some familiar faces returning.

“I’m very giddy about it, and very excited. I’m counting the days until we start, and I’m honored to be a part of it. We get to shoot in New York, and people are going to be really happy to see these characters that we previously saw in the Netflix series in the MCU.”

So far, we know that Charlie Cox will be returning as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Jon Bernthal has also recently confirmed that he will be returning as The Punisher. However, other fan favorites have been cut from the show as Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll have been confirmed to not be returning as Murdock’s closest allies, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page. We also know that Vanessa will now be played by Sandrine Holt instead of Ayelet Zurer, who played the character between 2015 and 2018.

Whilst the Disney Plus series isn’t going to follow the exact continuity of the Netflix series, Gandolfini’s comments could mean even more of the original cast are returning. If not Henson and Woll, perhaps we’ll see some of The Defenders pop up in the series, Jessica Jones has been one of the most memorable in many fans’ eyes, so it would be great to see Krysten Ritter return to the role.
