Aside from Disney and Marvel calling time on their slate of Netflix shows, The CW confirmed earlier this week that, much like Game of Thrones, Arrow‘s eighth season will also be its last. It’s an announcement that’s sent shockwaves throughout the internet, and understandably so, with lead star Stephen Amell admitting that, while the show’s had “one hell of a run,” it’s better to go out on a high – and he’s absolutely right.

Despite all its ups and downs, Arrow is still a series that many people hold near and dear and already, we’ve seen how devastated the fanbase is over its cancellation. But what do the various stars think of the news? Well, a number of them have already weighed in and now, we’re hearing from Emily Bett Rickards, who took to Instagram this weekend to post the following:

I’ve been trying to find the words to simply say what the last seven years have meant to me, and I believe this photo sums it up! It’s a cuddle puddle. Everyone here is exhausted and smiling. Everyone here looks at home. The incredible mind of my friend @schwartzapproved will be taking Arrow into its 8th & final season sending it off with pride, power and love.

Without this show I would have not met the inspiring people pictured here nor those I have gotten to work with and get to work with everyday. People who have become my family. I’m excited to see what is in store for the story we have been telling. I’m excited and nervous. A combination of emotions Felicity Smoak vibrates at frequently. Needless to say without the last seven years I wouldn’t have met her… Thank you to all of you for your massive support, passion and accompanying us on this journey. It’s because of you we found each other.

Aside from the 10-episode eighth season likely going out with a bang to coincide with the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, Arrow itself will surely have a few of its own surprises for the other nine outings. Of course, it remains to be seen if the whole Dante/Ninth Circle arc will carry over into the final season, but if not, it’s not like there aren’t any other comic books to mine for inspiration.

In any case, it’s far too early to start theorizing about what the producers may have in store for season 8, as we still have a good chunk of season 7 to go. The only thing we’re pretty sure of at this stage is that Oliver Queen will face a heroic death in the aforementioned “Crisis on Infinite Earths” event. So we’d better make the most of Arrow still being on our screens while we can.
