Expect To See More Of Helix In Arrow Season 6, EP Accidentally Reveals Returning Character

If you're current on Arrow, then you're well aware of how season 5 - the best one the show's seen in years - quite literally went out with a bang. We say that because Prometheus/Adrian Chase shot himself in the head, thereby triggering a dead man's switch connected to a myriad of bombs scattered around Lian Yu that were rigged to blow. Thus, we'll be left in suspense until this fall as to which characters survived aside from Oliver Queen and his son, William.

If you’re current on Arrow, then you’re well aware of how season 5 – the best one the show’s seen in years – quite literally went out with a bang. We say that because Prometheus/Adrian Chase shot himself in the head, thereby triggering a dead man’s switch connected to a myriad of bombs scattered around Lian Yu that were rigged to blow. Thus, we’ll be left in suspense until this fall as to which characters survived aside from Oliver Queen and his son, William.

We can say with confidence though that there are at least three people coming back for certain because each have been confirmed as being series regulars for the coming season: Julian Harkavy, Rick Gonzalez and Katie Cassidy, who play Dinah Drake (the new Black Canary), Wild Dog and Black Siren, respectively.

Thanks to recent comments made by executive producer Wendy Mericle, it looks like we can now identify another survivor whose identity shouldn’t surprise you: Felicity Smoak. In fact, I’d go as far to say that Prometheus could’ve aimed a nuclear missile directly at her and she’d have survived. Seriously, I think that the producers will kill off Oliver before they do her.

Anyway, here’s what Mericle had to say to TV Line regarding the ongoing situation involving Helix, thereby spoiling Felicity’s survival:

“[It’s] a dangling thread, and we don’t like to leave those hanging around. It’d be a great, sort of built-in story for Felicity to revisit these people, who are not very happy with her, let’s be honest. We left that open-ended on purpose, for sure.”

Well, she’s right about that subplot being far from over. Granted, I don’t see the “hacktivist” group being tied up with whomever next year’s big bad may be, but I can definitely see them putting in an appearance or two.

Arrow returns for its sixth season on Thursday, October 12 on The CW.
