New Star Wars Resistance Trailer Features Poe, Leia And Phasma

Star Wars Resistance is the latest animated series to come from the mind of The Clone Wars and Rebels showrunner Dave Filoni. As the title suggests, it’s set prior to the events of The Force Awakens and will follow the Resistance in their fight against the First Order. The first trailer, released last month, promised a bright, fast-paced show that focused on a new bunch of Resistance pilots, but that doesn't mean some familiar faces won't pop up, too.

Star Wars Resistance is the latest animated series to come from the mind of The Clone Wars and Rebels showrunner Dave Filoni. With just a week and a half to go until it arrives on Disney XD, an extended look at the series has now dropped online and features Oscar Isaac reprising his role as Poe Dameron. The Resistance leader will act as a mentor to protagonist Kazuda “Kaz” Xiono, who wants to be an “ace pilot” but who Poe sends on a dangerous mission to spy on their enemies.

What’s more, the trailer also sports cameos from Gwendoline Christie as the First Order’s Captain Phasma as well as Rachel Butera stepping into the iconic role of General Leia Organa. You can check it out for yourself down below.

If you’re thinking that Resistance looks more child-friendly than Filoni’s previous Star Wars animated series, then you’d be right, as the show’s been deliberately geared towards a younger audience than the likes of Rebels and Clone Wars, which are beloved by fans thanks to their mature storytelling. While that might be a bit of a downer for older viewers, it’s worth remembering that we’re all only watching these shows because we got hooked on Star Wars as children in the first place.

For more, here’s the official synopsis:

“Resistance fighter Poe Dameron tasks young pilot Kazuda (Kaz) Xiono with spying on the First Order. At the time, little was known about the secretive organization and its strength. In order to fulfill his mission, Kaz travels to the space station Colossus, which is being used by many ships as a port to refuel and do repairs. However, there are also dangerous races taking place there. After Kaz bragged with his piloting skills at his arrival there, he is soon drawn into one of the races…”

Star Wars Resistance kicks off with an hour-long special premiere episode, titled “The Recruit,” on Disney XD this Sunday, October 7th.
