Fans Think Arya’s Game Of Thrones Sex Scene Was The Show’s Most Empowering Consensual Interaction Ever

Game of Thrones fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on Arya's sex scene, saying it's the show's most empowering consensual interaction ever.

Game of Thrones never shies away from a good shocker and last night’s outing was no different, as it saw Arya Stark get up close and personal with Gendry (Joe Dempsie), providing us with one of the show’s more intimate moments.

Obviously, this brought out a whole slew of different reactions from fans on social media, with many people not sure what to make of it. One person, though, has now made it pretty clear what she thinks of the controversial sequence and according to her, Arya’s sex scene was Game of Thrones‘ “most empowering consensual interaction” ever.

“Arya is 18, in full control and making a choice. She’s having probably the least weird, and most empowering consensual interaction in the whole show. Ever. EVER,” Tweeted Mikki Kendall.

Given how many likes and re-Tweets the Tweet has, it’s clear that a large portion of the fanbase agrees with her. And elsewhere in the thread, Kendall backs up her claim with the following:

“She went with a guy she always liked, who has a little experience, a body she likes looking at, isn’t 8 million years older, isn’t cruel, isn’t weird in some horrifying way, he’s never even been dead. It’s amazing. And he’s not remotely in her gene pool. NOT EVEN CLOSE. She did great. Amazing. I’m so proud of her. She made the best choice for herself and on her own terms. I mean a bath might have been good, but I guess this is enough.”

As the thread also points out, the last fully consensual and healthy sexual relationship we saw for a main character on Thrones was between Jon Snow and Ygritte all the way back in season 3. Crazy, right?

Of course, it’s highly unlikely that Arya and Gendry getting it on will be the last shocking moment that this season of Game of Thrones brings us, but after watching Maisie Williams grow up on the series for so long now, it’s understandable that it’s got a lot of people unsure of what to make of it. Then again, Kendall does bring up some good points here and again, it’s clear from her Tweet that she’s got a fair amount of support.

Tell us, though, what did you think of the young Stark’s sex scene last night? As always, you can share your thoughts with us in the usual place down below.
