Twisted Metal poster/Peacock

First look at Anthony Mackie in ‘Twisted Metal’ adaptation

Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz are the comedy/action duo we didn't even know we needed.

IGN revealed their exclusive look at Peacock’s upcoming adaptation of the video game Twisted Metal. The cult classic Playstation game won scores of fans for its over-the-top weaponry, plethora of explosions and sweet derby-style action.

Anthony Mackie is looking incredibly fly in the poster, surrounded by all the guns, explosions, and clown cars any Twisted Metal fan could have asked for. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star has so much experience slinging perfectly-timed comedic barbs while surrounded by absolute chaos that he’ll fit right into the zany world reimagined for the series, which has had one heck of a facelift – courtesy of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the creative masterminds behind Deadpool and Zombieland.

As per the official synopsis, Twisted Metal follows Anthony Mackie, “a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.”

According to the series’ Wiki, Mackie plays a talkative milkman beset by amnesia given the chance of a lifetime — but only if he can survive some outrageous vehicular combat. He’s joined by Brooklyn 99 star Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet, a rash car thief who is relentlessly pursued by Agent Stone (Thomas Hayden Church) as they make their way through a marauder-infested desert. Will Arnet will be playing Sweet Tooth, the psychotic clown that terrorizes the desert in his tricked-out ice cream truck.

So far, the miniseries has a yet undisclosed number of episodes and will have multiple directors at its helm and only Kitao Sakurai (Eric Andre Show) has been confirmed to direct for the project even though filming wrapped back in May 2022.

The official trailer for what is being described as a “high-octane action comedy” drops April 28.
