Intriguing New Details On Arrow Season 5’s Main Villain Revealed

Arrow has been very hit and miss when it comes to villains, especially over the past two years. While the show kicked things off in style with the Dark Archer and Deathstroke, Ra’s al Ghul and Damien Darhk ended up disappointing, so fans are obviously hoping that the show’s fifth season will be a return to form in terms of the main bad guy.

While we still don’t know his true identity (that’s unlikely to be revealed until Comic-Con next month), TV Line has shared some very intriguing details about what we should expect.

Inspired by The Wire‘s Stringer Bell (Idris Elba), the tentatively named “Anton Church” is apparently a ruthless crime lord who will make his presence felt in Arrow by looking to fill the void left by Damien Darhk and H.I.V.E. after their defeat. A casting notice describes him as an “apex predator who cuts his way through the shadows by taking down the biggest threat first.”

That’s obviously going to lead to him clashing with the Green Arrow, and with Team Arrow going their separate ways in the season four finale, Oliver Queen could be in serious trouble, especially as the site notes that Game of Thrones and Justice League star Jason Momoa is the physical prototype that The CW is looking at for whoever ends up filling this role.

After the mixed reaction to the show this year, Arrow is going to have its work cut out for it when it comes to winning back sceptical fans, but this definitely sounds like a good start.
