It’s been so long since the announcement a ‘Star Wars’ series has been almost completely forgotten

'Lando' is still MIA from release schedules, will it ever really happen?

Star Wars‘ future on Disney Plus is looking bright. Over the summer we’ll get Ahsoka, and later in the year Skeleton Crew. Then 2024 will bring The Acolyte, along with the eagerly-awaited second season of Andor. But in the excitement, there’s one big show that’s flown so far under the radar most fans have completely forgotten about it.

We’re talking Lando, which was announced in 2020 and would see Donald Glover reprising his role in Solo: A Star Wars Story for a new adventure. Information about it has been thin on the ground, though there’s been no official cancellation announcement either, so it’s still technically in the pipeline. However, it’s been so long since we heard anything about a release date that even die-hard fans seem to have forgotten its existence:

We finally got a vague update on Lando last month, though. As per IGN, Kathleen Kennedy is adamant that the show is “still happening” and that Glover is “very excited about it”. Glover himself was asked about the show by GQ and said he’s “not interested in doing anything that’s going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck,” but that “we’re talking about it. That’s as much as I can say without Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down.”

Even so, we’ll be nicely surprised if Lando ever appears. After Solo‘s surprise financial disappointment, Lucasfilm seems to have abandoned any sequel plans, meaning that we may never get any resolution to that Darth Maul credits scene. Perhaps the one chance to pick up on that story would be in Lando, and it’d be nice to see Alden Ehrenreich get just one more shot at playing Han Solo to tie up some loose ends.

For now, Lando remains a mystery. We’re skeptical it’ll ever grace our screens, but it’s very definitely not dead. Yet.
