Katie Zacharia was ousted in a week after a 14-minute press briefing. Now the White House Communications Director is teasing Nicki Minaj for the job

'Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!'

The White House is currently searching for a new press secretary following a series of quick departures. Communications Director Steven Cheung recently suggested a surprising name for the role by posting a video on X that features rapper Nicki Minaj, Washington Examiner reports.

The clip shows Minaj sitting with Cheung while discussing President Donald Trump and his background in business. Cheung included a caption with the post that read, “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary! @NICKIMINAJ.”

In the video, Minaj shares her thoughts on why she believes the president is capable of helping the country. She notes that the president is tough regarding foreign policy and mentions that he outworks people who are half his age. Minaj says, “We have a president that understands economics, first of all. You know, I’ve said before that the president is naturally a businessman. He’s worked his way out of not having a dollar left in the bank. So, if he can do that with himself, and his own finances, surely he knows what to do with the country.”

This search for new leadership comes after a very short stint by Katie Zacharia

Katie Zacharia was ousted from the position in less than a week after a press briefing that lasted only 14 minutes. During that time, she took just a few questions from reporters before the session ended.

The debut for Zacharia was rocky and drew immediate criticism. Some reports alleged that she never passed the bar exam, despite her referring to herself as an attorney. Passing that exam is a requirement to be sworn in for such a role. A GOP strategist told the Washington Examiner that Zacharia was becoming “a distraction.”

Before Zacharia, Karoline Leavitt held the position but resigned to support her family. The quick turnover at the podium has left the communications team looking for stability. It is clear the administration is navigating a difficult period with its public messaging.

Minaj has emerged as an ally to the president recently. She appeared alongside President Trump at a rally in Michigan as the midterm elections get closer. Trump paused mid-speech and asked Minaj to stand up, after which he interestingly praised her figure: “By the way I looked at one hell of a beautiful *ss before, Nicki Minaj! That’s hard to miss! Stand up! That’s hard to miss!”

While the post on X has generated attention, there has been no official announcement regarding a permanent replacement for the press secretary role.
