Though Hawkeye is still over two weeks away from making his long-awaited comeback with Avengers: Endgame, it seems that word is already out about what’s next for Clint Barton.
Variety reports that a Hawkeye TV show is in development at Disney Plus, with Jeremy Renner reprising his role as the MCU’s greatest archer. As per the old rumor, the project is said to be an adventure series in which Clint passes the torch on to Kate Bishop, a member of the Young Avengers in the comics who eventually inherits the Hawkeye name.
While Disney and Marvel have yet to comment on the matter, the new report falls very much in line with various hearsay from the past year. There’s even been a little speculation that last month’s Endgame trailer offered an early glimpse of Hawkeye training the young Kate.
In any case, after Hawkeye sat out the entirety of Avengers: Infinity War, it’s nice to know that his Endgame comeback won’t be just a one-off. Between Renner’s TV show and the Black Widow solo movie, that’s now two Phase 1 Avengers who seem to have a future in the franchise.
While it’s unclear when the Hawkeye show might be headed our way, it looks like Clint may have to wait his turn, given all the other MCU characters with Disney Plus shows in the works. As it stands, the Loki miniseries seems first in line, while the Vision and Scarlet Witch show may not be far behind. There’s also been much talk of a Falcon and Winter Soldier series that may also come out before Renner returns to the spotlight. But before all that, we’ll be seeing Hawkeye in action and rocking a brand new style when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
