Keiynan Lonsdale Hopes Fans Aren’t Angry Over His Legends Of Tomorrow Exit

Though viewers understandably become highly attached to the lead heroes headlining the various shows making up the Arrowverse, there remain others who've accrued sizable fanbases of their own. In the case of Arrow, Colton Hayne's Roy Harper would be a fine example, and when it comes to The Flash, it's difficult not to give Keiynan Lonsdale's Wally West the credit he deserves.

And though Kid Flash made a name for himself over in Central City, he’s become synonymous with Legends of Tomorrow as of late, having taken up residence aboard the Waverider during the back half of that series’ third season. But all that came crashing down last week when it was revealed Lonsdale will be departing after season 4’s premiere episode.

Understandably, we were worried about Wally’s fate knowing he’ll be heading back to The Flash for that show’s fifth season premiere before making his actual exit, but Lonsdale soon after assured us all that he’ll remain an Arrowverse fixture in a limited capacity.

While speaking at Oz Comic Con in Melbourne, Australia, the young actor said he hopes this decision on his part hasn’t affected his fans in a negative way:

“I’m not coming back full-time, but I’ll still be like in the DC universe, just not like, I won’t be filming ten months of the year every year. It got announced and then I was like, I’ve got to make sure that people know it was my decision so that no one got too angry. I hope that everyone’s not too sad about missing Wally.”

Of course, there exist a fair amount of people who’ve lamented Lonsdale moving on in a sense, but it’s important we not forget actors don’t often want to limit themselves to one role for very long. Well, it may work for some, but others want to free themselves up for various creative endeavors, so we at least have to try to examine situations from their perspectives.

Legends of Tomorrow returns for its fourth season on Monday nights this fall on The CW.
