Ken Marino Joins Agent Carter Season 2 In Villainous Role

Shooting on season two of Agent Carter is well underway, but now another character who should be familiar to comic book fans has been added to the cast of the Marvel and ABC TV series. Shooting on season two of Agent Carter is well underway, but now another character who should be familiar to comic book fans has been added to the cast of the Marvel and ABC TV series. Ken Marino (Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp) is set to take on the role of Joseph Manfredi, a volatile leader in the Maggia crime syndicate who will help Peggy Carter’s adversaries further their agenda.

If that name rings a bell, it’s because he was better known as HYDRA member Blackwing in the comics. Starting off as a costumed criminal, he clashed with everyone from Daredevil to Captain America, but later gave up that unsuccessful life to become a crime boss. He’s far from a big name character in all honesty, but it should still be interesting to see what Agent Carter does with him in the series.

Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, had this to say about the casting in a statement today:

“At Marvel, even our villains need a certain degree of charm as they make life difficult for our heroes. Ken brings a quality to Joseph Manfredi that only serves to make him even more menacing, adding another layer of depth to our already outstanding supporting cast.”

The second season of Agent Carter will take place in Los Angeles as Peggy moves there for her most dangerous assignment yet. However, even as she discovers new friends, a new home – and perhaps even a new love – she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect. If season one was any indication, it’s well worth getting excited about what’s to come in Agent Carter.
