We are always hoping against hope that Netflix is done treating its fantasy shows like its middle child, only for the streamer to axe another beloved series and leave us hanging with another painful cliffhanger. The majorly loved supernatural series, Lockwood & Co. is the latest addition to this woeful list and no matter how much we would like to hold on, it is time to say goodbye — at least for now. But while maintaining cordial business relationships is the gist of the market, it doesn’t mean series showrunner Joe Cornish isn’t allowed to throw some very justified shade at Netflix.
Cornish recently took to Instagram to join in on the reigning public disappointment over the show’s cancelation. Instead of going through the usual motions of commenting it was a good run and lamenting that they have to say goodbye now, he wasted no time in “indirectly” pointing out that Netflix has zero reasons for canning a show like Lockwood & Co. that “got stellar reviews, an incredible reception from both fans of the books and newcomers, it was number one across the world and a smash hit especially when it came to family viewing.”
But unlike Cornish who camouflaged his accusations against Netflix, loyal followers of the show as well as disgruntled viewers, done with their favorites getting the booting despite stellar performances, woke up and chose violence upon hearing the news. While this ire will only escalate as the days go by, it will be utilized by fans in catering the series to other streamers willing to swoop in and save the day…er, season two, and hopefully more.
While the campaign for the likes of Warrior Nun is yet to find salvation, many canceled shows do manage to hone in on their new home. Here’s hoping that the heartbroken fantasy lovers hoping to join Lucy, Anthony, George, and the other residents of Lockwood & Co. on the next leg of their adventure won’t have to wait long.
