New Luke Cage Season 2 Photos Reveal The Villainous Bushmaster

Currently scheduled to arrive via Netflix on June 22nd, Luke Cage season 2 is expected to up the ante for its sophomore installment with a darker story and "a lot more fighting." That's not all that surprising, really, considering showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has carved out room for Danny Rand's Iron Fist, a character who forms the world-famous Heroes for Hire alongside the walking powerhouse that is Luke Cage.

Currently scheduled to arrive via Netflix on June 22nd, Luke Cage season 2 is expected to up the ante for its sophomore installment with a darker story and “a lot more fighting.” That’s not all that surprising, really, considering showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has carved out room for Danny Rand’s Iron Fist, a character who forms the world-famous Heroes for Hire alongside the walking powerhouse that is Luke Cage.

Now, with the show’s premiere quickly approaching, the marketing machine is starting to kick into gear and after receiving a brand new photo just earlier this week, today we’ve got a whole batch of them. Seen in the gallery below, there’s shots of Luke, Danny, Misty with her new bionic arm and also season 2’s antagonist, Bushmaster, who’s described as “a natural leader, brimming with charisma, whose mission is focused on Harlem and vengeance.”

Of course, the question, really, is whether Coker can craft a villain that’s every bit as menacing and wildly unpredictable as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes. After all, Jessica Jones season 2 is living proof that a TV series can struggle to replace such a scenery-chewing baddie.

On the casting front, the show has beefed up its ensemble with a number of returning, and new cast members, such as Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi as the sly, sinister Shades, Mustafa Shakir, Gabrielle Dennis and Marvel mainstay Rosario Dawson, whose Claire Temple has also been confirmed for Daredevil season 3.

Season 2 of Luke Cage has been slated for a Netflix premiere on June 22nd, which tells us that the third installment of the aforementioned Daredevil ought to be with us before the year’s end. And after that? Another round of The Punisher and Iron Fist – presumably at the expense of The Defenders.
