One of the most intriguing shows of recent memory has been FX’s creepy horror-thriller American Horror Story. It’s unique in that it tells a different story each season, using many of the same actors in the process, with the latest a mere 13 days away from premiering.

This time around, we have a cast that includes Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, Gabourey Sidibe, Denis O’Hare, Patti LuPone, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Lily Rabe and Emma Roberts, in a story that, as you could probably guess, involves witches.

A brief synopsis gives us a little more detail as to what to expect:

“Coven” tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

We’ve already seen a ton of teasers released for the upcoming season, but today we have a special treat. Thanks to Coming Soon, we now have the Main Title Sequence, and just like the previous two seasons, it’s more than likely to send a chill down your spine.

As I’ve said before, I was a big fan of season one. I still remember the night I sat down to start the show, thinking that I was just going to watch one or two episodes before calling it a night. Five episodes later, I realized I was hooked. Season two was a little different. It had its moments, but wasn’t nearly as engrossing as the previous season had been. However, the performances remained outstanding.

I have high hopes for Coven in that it will return the show to the high level of quality set by its premiere season. I’d hate to think that the show only had one good story to tell. We’ll know whether or not it pulls this off soon enough when the show returns on October 9th.
