Michael Chiklis will be appearing on the second season of FOX’s Gotham, and today, we have our first photo of him in character, thanks to EW. The actor will be a series regular and is set to play Captain Nathaniel Barnes, a “law and order zealot who lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham’s police force.” He’ll first show up in the fourth episode, which is titled “Strike Force.”

Those familiar with Chiklis will no doubt know that this is not his first time playing a no nonsense cop. The actor became a household name thanks to his role as Vic Mackey on FX’s The Shield, one of the best police shows of all-time, in this writer’s opinion at least. His character here seems similar, though obviously a bit more toned down, and he should prove to be a strong asset for Gotham‘s second season.

Also starring Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, David Mazouz and Camren Bicondova, Gotham will return to FOX on Monday, September 21st. Tell us, are you excited to see Chiklis back in a precinct? Sound off below!
