Mike Colter’s Hero for Hero is making the final preparations to headline his hotly-anticipated Luke Cage standalone series – a warm-up that also involved muscling his way onto the latest cover of SFX – and with the September 30 premiere inching closer and closer, we now have a new look at our hero standing tall alongside Mercedes “Misty” Knight, played here by Simone Missick.

This latest teaser arrives by way of Defenders TV Podcast (thanks, CBM), showcasing Colter and Missick’s leads sharing a smile against the dimmed lights of Harlem. We’re little over a month out from seeing this pair light up the small-screen, and it’ll be fascinating to see how their friendship develops in the face of Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (House of Cards star Mahershala Ali).

On board opposite Mike Colter and Missick are Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.

Luke Cage is slated to arrive via Netflix on September 30. It’ll be followed by an Iron Fist spinoff series and The Defenders in 2017, before viewers revisit Hell’s Kitchen to check in on Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
