Woman orders a Guinness and a well tequila in a small Texas town bar. Then she looks at her tab: ‘You’re kidding me’

She wasn’t expecting these prices.

A TikTok video posted by Lauren Laguna (@laurenlaguna___) has gained tens of thousands of views after she filmed a bar receipt in a small Texas town. Laguna held up a check presenter that contained the printed receipt and a twenty-dollar bill while speaking to a companion named Aria.

In the video, Laguna said she ordered a well tequila and a Guinness Draught. She focused the camera on the line items that listed the well tequila at $5.50 and the Guinness Draught at $8.00.

Laguna told Aria, “No, you’re kidding me. These are the prices for the drinks, bro.” She added that Austin could never match the prices and confirmed they were in Buda, Texas. The video caption read, “I miss when drinks at bars were this cheap.” An on-screen text overlay stated, “I need to party in Buda more often because I haven’t seen these drink prices since 2016.”

Receipt from Nate’s at Buda Mill & Grain lists the drink prices

The receipt header shown in the video identified the location as Nate’s at Buda Mill & Grain. The address printed on the receipt read 306 S Main St, Buda, TX 78610. Laguna explained the town name in the video. She said, “We’re in Buda, by the way. Buda, Buda, Texas. Even though it spelled like Buddha, but it’s spelled Buda, Buda.”

Buda is a fast-growing city in Hays County located about 15 miles south of downtown Austin along the Interstate 35 corridor. It has been designated by the Texas State Legislature as the “Outdoor Capital of Texas.”

She then directed the camera to the bottom of the receipt. Laguna stated, “But no, I’m like, I’m done. $13.50 for 2 drinks is crazy.” Texans have gone viral for finding good deals on food as well, like one woman who opened the box on a $54 Texas Roadhouse family steak meal.

Viewers in the comments shared their own experiences with drink prices in different Texas cities. One commenter wrote, “workhorse in Austin has $3 to $7 drinks, everyday all the time.” Another commenter noted the prices looked low compared with other places. They wrote, “This is cheap compared to some places charging $13-16 for one drink.” Lauren Laguna replied, “This is exactly what I said.”

A separate commenter mentioned prices in a different city. They wrote, “In Houston it’s $25 for 2 drinks.” Laguna responded that Houston has better prices than Austin and that most Austin bars charge around $16 to $18 per drink depending on the location. Drink orders can bring surprises of other kinds too, like when a Texas woman’s Tim Hortons iced coffee order left her baffled at the counter.

One commenter also mentioned live music at the bar. They wrote, “Nate’s always has some good live music too everytime I go.” Laguna replied, “Oh that’s so fun! I gotta go back for that!” Another commenter invited Laguna to an event. They wrote, “Come back for their pain and sip on Sunday! It’s a ticketed event!” Laguna replied, “Omg that sounds so fun! I wanna go!”
