The ABC comedy series garnered six nominations, including acting nods for Ty Burrell, Ed O’Neill, Eric Stonestreet, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara.

The nominees included genre shows often overlooked by the Emmys. Critically acclaimed sci-fi show Fringe received a nod for best drama series and actors Anna Torv and John Noble were acknowledged for their work on the show.
