New Walking Dead Promo Teases A Fight For Freedom

We're only a few weeks away now from the return of AMC's The Walking Dead and excitement is slowly, but surely building. While the first half of season 7 was iffy, to say the least, the next batch of episodes promise to be a whole lot more engaging and thrilling. Not that what came before didn't have its moments, but ever since the electrifying, and incredibly violent premiere, The Walking Dead has certainly had more downs than ups.

Heading into the second half of the season, we’ve been told that not only will the show have more levity, but that we should also prepare for an “all-out war” between Rick and Negan. That shouldn’t surprise anyone who’s been following along with the comic books, but it’s exciting to hear nonetheless and should ensure that things conclude on a high note this year. At least, we hope that’s the case.

For more on what to expect from the next half of the season, here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of AMC:

The first half of Season 7 saw Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the group broken by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), forced to fall under his will and brutally convinced to live under his rules. The second half of the season will focus on preparing for war and gathering the supplies and numbers to take Negan down once and for all.

Rick’s group will find out yet again that the world isn’t what they thought it was. It’s much bigger than anything they’ve seen so far. While they have a singular purpose – to defeat Negan – it won’t come easy. More importantly, victory will require more than Alexandria. They need the numbers of the Kingdom and the Hilltop, but, similar to how Rick felt, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) do not want bloodshed. To convince them otherwise will take more than speeches. The lengths Rick and the group will have to go to in order to find weapons, food and new fighters is nothing short of remarkable.

We’ll meet new survivors in incredible places. We’ll see Rick and the group tested in ways we’ve never seen before. We’ll see treachery from people we trust. Rick is confident as he will see his group and many others band together with the common goal of taking down Negan. But no amount of planning will prepare the group for all-out war with Negan and his army.

Sounds good, right? To help make the wait a bit easier, the network has now premiered a brand new promo for the upcoming batch of episodes which follows hot on the heels of those recent photos. Embedded above, it really doesn’t show us much at all, but it does promise that Rick and the gang are about to take a stand and fight for their freedom, which should make for some explosive moments when the show returns.

This is only the first new teaser AMC has rolled out since The Walking Dead went on hiatus back in December, so it’s understandably light on content. As the weeks roll on though and we get closer to the premiere of the next episode (which is February 12th, for those who aren’t counting down the days), you can expect a whole lot more footage to drop. And when it does, we’ll have it for you right here.

Until then, however, take a look at the promo above and be sure to let us know what you’re hoping to see from The Walking Dead once it makes its way back onto our screens next month!
