The schedules of Phil Lord and Chris Miller just got even more ridiculously busy, as it has been revealed today that they’re working on adapting Serial to television. For those of you unfamiliar with it, Serial was a podcast which saw host Sarah Koenig chronicling the Adnan Syed case, getting listeners hooked on the true crime story and finding massive success in the process.

Lord and Miller have a huge list of projects in the works, with everything from The LEGO Movie 2 to The Flash, and a Han Solo film all in various stages of development.

The series they’re developing won’t follow the same case as the podcast, but the premise will apparently revolve around, “the experience of making the hugely successful podcast.” Other than that, plot details are being kept under wraps, but we do know that the series will likely air on cable, and Fox 21 TV Studios president Bert Salke issued the following statement announcing the news:

“From the very first week of Serial’s release last fall, everyone at Fox 21TVS was obsessed with the podcast. One year later, thanks to the incredible passion of Chris and Phil, who flew to New York and shared their vision with Sarah, Julie [Synder], Alissa [Shipp] and Ira [Glass] for what the series could be, we’re moving forward on this exciting project. What you have here is a ‘once every ten years creative storytelling phenom’ with a ‘once in ten years take’ with a ‘once in twenty-five years creative team.’ We are confident we’ll attract a spectacular writer and look forward to pitching it to outlets very soon.”

The second season of Serial will revolve around Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the Army soldier who went missing while deployed in Afghanistan and was held prisoner by the Taliban.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the Serial TV series comes together, especially with Lord and Miller now on board, so stay tuned for updates in the coming weeks and months, and let us know your thoughts below.
