Thanks to a screen pulled from Netflix’s mobile app, we may now know when exactly the streaming service plans to debut the first season of The Punisher, a spinoff born from the character’s impressive debut in season 2 of Daredevil. If the app is to be believed, then Frank Castle will return in his own solo show as early as next year.
How do we know this? Well, the screenshot in question can be seen below:
This is far from official confirmation of course, and is definitely subject to change, but as of now we have no reason not to believe it. Sure, it would be unusual for Marvel to have three shows on Netflix in one year (The Punisher, Iron Fist and The Defenders), as they usually stick with two, but since The Defenders is only 8 episodes and not 13, perhaps they’re alright with adding another one in for 2017?
We won’t know for certain whether or not Netflix does indeed plan to premiere The Punisher next year for at least a little while, but it’s definitely looking likely. Either way, we can’t wait to see more of Frank Castle and we hope he makes his return to Marvel’s television universe sooner rather than later.
