Rosario Dawson shares insight into when ‘Star Wars’ fans should expect ‘Ahsoka’ to arrive

This is the way.

Ahsoka might be hitting our small screens in a matter of months according to Ahsoka herself, Rosario Dawson.

The Ahsoka star appeared on TODAY with Hoda and Jenna, where she was promoting her new documentary Split at the Root, which is due to hit theaters and Netflix on March 3. But, she was also asked about her appearance in the Star Wars universe as Anakin Skywalker’s former padawan, Ahsoka Tano.

Of course, Rosario Dawson has played the character before, in both the second season of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. But, she is now about to reprise her role in a Disney Plus series all about her character called Ahsoka. As to when the series will release, we only had estimated that it would be in 2023, but thanks to TODAY, we now know a little more.

When asked about the spin-off, Dawson mentioned that Ahsoka is “probably going to come out in the fall.” She goes on to say that Haunted Mansion, another Disney property, is set to release first. Haunted Mansion’s release date has moved around a bit, hence why she says August when the film is actually scheduled for July 28, 2023. But, that gives us a possible time frame for Ahsoka, releasing toward the end of the year.

This would make sense as the third season of The Mandalorian is about to arrive on Disney Plus in a little over a week on March 1, 2023. Star Wars: The Bad Batch is already midway through its second season, while Star Wars: Visions season two is set to debut on May 4, 2023. Therefore, the last six months of the year are free for both Ahsoka and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

We haven’t seen a trailer for Ahsoka yet, which would make sense if the series is indeed released in the fall. With Star Wars Celebration in April, it would make sense to reveal the first trailer there, along with the release date. Disney could always sit on it a little longer too, waiting until May 4 to release it. Although a report by The Hollywood Reporter did suggest that Disney would be holding back on its Disney Plus releases, but that could be more of a Marvel issue than a Star Wars one. Either way, we should know more about Ahsoka and the future of Star Wars with April’s Star Wars Celebration.

You can catch season three of The Mandalorian on Disney Plus when the first episode is released on March 1, 2023.
