Westworld Season 3 Comic-Con Trailer Invites Us To A Brave New World

HBO has debuted the official SDCC trailer for Westworld season 3, introducing a brave new world for Dolores and the gang.

It was Dr. Robert Ford who gravely informed his hosts that these violent delights have violent ends. And nowhere is that phrase more apparent than the official SDCC trailer for Westworld season 3.

Set to arrive in 2020, above you’ll see Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) navigating the real world, far, far away from the confines of Westworld and its, ahem, human overlords. The whip-smart host appears to be plotting for something big, while today’s teaser also brings Caleb (Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul) into the fold. Exactly how he’ll fit into the overall story of Westworld season 3 remains unclear, but it’s pretty clear this footage is raising serious question marks over the relationship between human and host.

Maeve, meanwhile, journeys to the WWII world in search of… something, though as Dolores infers, they each have their role to play, and this being Westworld, each story will no doubt overlap come 2020.

Westworld

For co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan, who together with Lisa Joy Nolan is the creative driving force behind Westworld season 3, recently told Entertainment Weekly that next year’s installment is all about the hosts – Maeve, Dolores, Bernard… the usual suspects – finally getting the chance to meet their makers. Remember, these violent delights…

“This is season is a little less of a guessing game and more of an experience with the hosts finally getting to meet their makers.”

Newcomers for the series include Lena Waithe (Ready Player One), with NFL player Marshawn Lynch, and Vincent Cassel (Black Swan, Eastern Promises) also on board. They’ll soon join the aforementioned Evan Rachel Wood, the frankly incredible Thandie Newton (Maeve), Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Talulah Riley and Rodrigo Santoro.

Westworld season 3 now joins Star Trek: Picard on the growing list of TV shows not to be missed in 2020.
