Sony Developing Agent Venom TV Show, Tony Revolori May Star

This week, Sony announced that they were planning multiple Marvel TV series, inspired by the recent success of their Spider-Man-related movies - i.e. Venom, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the upcoming Morbius. They stopped short of saying what these were, but promised to unveil them soon. Well, we might just know one of these shows already.

This week, Sony announced that they were planning multiple Marvel TV series, inspired by the recent success of their Spider-Man-related movies (see: Venom, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the upcoming Morbius). And while there’s still no word on when the studio may reveal more, a source close to We Got This Covered has told us that one of them is an Agent Venom TV series. Comic book readers will know that Agent Venom’s the alter ego of Flash Thompson, Peter Parker’s old high school bully, when he becomes infected with the Venom symbiote. Unlike Eddie Brock, however, the disabled soldier manages to control the parasite and becomes a militaristic anti-hero. What’s more, Tony Revolori, AKA Flash in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home, is “likely” to star in the lead role.

This is intriguing news, as it suggests that Sony’s Spider-Man-less universe is in line with the MCU after all. Amy Pascal has said this before, but any connection has always been denied by Kevin Feige. Up until now, there’s been nothing to confirm or disprove that the two are separate, but whichever way the casting goes on this one will do so one way or the other.

Furthermore, we were all half expecting Tom Holland to show up for a cameo as Spidey in Venom, but it didn’t end up happening. However, the cast and crew have been teasing that it’s possible Parker could appear in the sequel instead. Apparently, Marvel Studios is contractually obliged to let Holland appear in Sony’s movies if the latter wishes it, so the signs are already pointing to what’s officially called Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters being part of the MCU.

We’ll keep you updated if and when more comes in, but for now, tell us, are you interested in an Agent Venom TV series? And should it tie into the MCU? Have your say in the comments section below.
