Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is shaping up to be something special. The show is described as a coming-of-age story focused on four teenage actors, with influences from The Goonies. Despite having completed filming in January, we don’t know too much about it other than that Jude Law stars as an older character leading a team of younger heroes. We also know it’s set in the same time period as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, so perhaps we’ll see teens dealing with the fall of the Empire and life within the New Republic.
Either way, it has assembled a sterling team of directors. MCU Spider-Man director Jon Watts has created the show and will direct at least one episode, with the Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere all at Once directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert on board, as well as The Green Knight‘s David Lowery (as confirmed by Variety).
Fans are understandably hyped:
Hey, we’d watch it:
Some top talent is being assembled:
Will he be allowed to flex his cinematic muscles?
Skeleton Crew will release on Disney Plus sometime this year and we’re hoping for a full reveal at the “Star Wars Celebration” event taking place in London over Easter weekend. There are a lot of in-development projects yet to receive full unveiling and we’re hopeful of trailers for Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew, and maybe even a peek at The Acolyte.
Beyond those, Disney is eager to get Star Wars back on the big screen, so we may get some kind of announcement on what The Rise of Skywalker sequel planned for 2025 is going to look like. Either way, the future looks bright, so keep an eye on the news over the coming days for more Skeleton Crew teases.
