Supergirl Faces Her Fears In New Season 4 Trailer

Supergirl returns to The CW for its fourth season in just a few short weeks and this new promo is here to tease what we can expect from the premiere, titled "American Alien" - a name familiar to DC fans as it's the name of Max Landis' 2015 Superman storyline. Don't expect more than the title to make the jump to the screen, though, as this trailer promises an all-new adventure for the titular hero.

Supergirl returns to The CW for its fourth season in just a few short weeks and this new promo is here to tease what we can expect from the premiere, titled “American Alien” – a name familiar to DC fans as it’s the name of Max Landis’ 2015 Superman storyline. Don’t expect more than the title to make the jump to the screen, though, as this trailer promises an all-new adventure for the titular hero.

Tying the promo together is a voiceover from Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist). Speaking to someone off-screen, the Girl of Steel opens up about how even she’s scared, and how when she’s bested one fear a new one will always come along, but she says that she doesn’t let it stop her from “jumping right back out there.” It’s a nice speech and a strong way to remind us of who Supergirl is and what she stands for.

Footage-wise, the promo promises a new threat in the form of a creepy alien with a mouth like one of the Reapers from Blade II. It seems this villain poses such a challenge that Kara needs to don a special new spacesuit (previously seen in the Comic-Con trailer) to face him.

Meanwhile, we also get our first glimpse at Sam Witwer’s Agent Liberty as well. The former Smallville star will be a recurring villain this season as a public speaker with a bone to pick with aliens. That’s also him in the blank, dark mask towards the end of the promo.

Other new faces in season 4 we can look forward to seeing are Nicole Maines as Legionnaire Nia Nal (TV’s first transgender superhero) and Lex Luthor’s henchpeople Mercy Graves (Rhona Mitra) and Otis (Robert Baker). Oh, and let’s not forget David Ajala as major Man of Steel foe Manchester Black.

Be sure to catch Supergirl when she soars back onto screens on Sunday, October 14th.
