Despite the current season of Supergirl unfolding somewhat slowly, the producers very much picked up the pace with this past Monday’s episode, “Dark Side of the Moon.” In it, we not only learned that a Kryptonian city, Argo, survived the rest of the planet’s destruction, but that Kara’s mother, Alura, is still alive!

What’s more is that Anjali Jay’s character, Serena, is among the living as well. To this point, we’d seen her only as a construct appearing in Reign’s Fortress similar to Alura’s that’d been interacting with the Girl of Steel for the past few years. Needless to say, this is quite the game-changer.

Up until recently, The CW had been holding off on any kind of spoilers pertaining to season 3’s penultimate episode, “Make It Reign,” but now we have some images hinting at what’s to come. And while they merely tease whatever’s to go down, one thing’s for certain: Kara, Mon-El and Alex all look majorly pissed off. Alura, meanwhile, looks strangely calm, so let’s keep an eye on her going forward.

If that weren’t enough, the following synopsis has been disclosed as well:

SUPERGIRL PREPARES FOR BATTLE – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) learns the true depth of Serena’s (guest star Anjali Jay) nefarious plans for Earth. Supergirl, Mon-El (Chris Wood) and Alura (guest star Erica Durance) must devise a plan to stop her before Serena gets to Earth. J’onn (David Harewood) prepares to say goodbye to his father (guest star Carl Lumby). Armen V. Kevorkian directed the episode written by Ray Utarnachitt & Cindy Lichtman (#322).

Supergirl airs on Monday nights on The CW, with “Make It Reign” set to debut on June 11. If the network releases any more goodies pertaining to this episode, we’ll keep you posted, but it wouldn’t surprise us if they continue holding their cards close to the vest.
