Supergirl Has A Target On Her Back In Midseason Premiere Promo

In the midst of all the commotion surrounding the “Elseworlds” crossover – not to mention the announcement of 2019’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” – trailers for individual DC series became overshadowed. Fortunately, it didn’t take The CW very long to release them online. And if we’re to learn anything from Supergirl's midseason premiere teaser, it's that the final moments witnessed in "Bunker Hill" will have lasting ramifications.

To briefly reiterate, Agent Liberty has been unmasked as Ben Lockwood and sent to prison for the time being, yet has somehow emerged from the situation as a hero in the eyes of the public. On the flip side, Kara’s had pressure applied to her by the DEO to reveal her secret identity, which is something she refuses to do. As such, the agency has severed ties with her.

As you can see in the video embedded at the top of this article, the Girl of Steel’s life will continue being turned upside down by this fiasco. She still has her friends to rely on, sure, but now certain folks in the government may see her as fair game – not to mention leaving her vulnerable for the incoming Lex Luthor.

Truth be told, even though this assures dark times are ahead for Kara and being at the DEO brought her closer to Alex and J’onn J’onzz, I’m actually glad she’s on her own now. Call me crazy, but I always found it kind of odd that someone as powerful as she had been taking orders from Uncle Sam.

In due time, we should have a synopsis and photos for “Suspicious Minds,” so keep watching this space for more. As we’ve come to expect, those should arrive two or three weeks before the premiere itself.

Supergirl returns with new episodes on Sunday, January 20 on The CW.
