Supergirl’s Jon Cryer Teases Lex Luthor Using His Warsuit

Jon Cryer made his debut as Lex Luthor on last Sunday's episode of Supergirl, and he went down a storm with fans. Despite there being mixed reactions to his casting initially, everyone was bowled over by his performance in the recent season 4 episode. The good news is that Lex will play a major role for the remainder of the run, and the actor has hinted that a fan favorite element of the character's comic book misdeeds may be on its way.

To promote his joining the Supergirl cast, Cryer spoke to the press at a Q&A and was asked whether the “Lexosuit,” Luthor’s green and purple mecha-suit that he occasionally uses to go toe-to-toe with Superman, will make an appearance soon. Cryer might have said more than he was meant to though as he seemed to confirm that it would.

“There will be a little bit of that. Can I say that? He mostly uses his mind and is manipulative and all, but we do have some of that.”

To be fair to the actor, he hasn’t dropped too big of a spoiler here, as the “Lexosuit” has been a part of Supergirl for years. It first turned up in storage in Lex’s vault which Lillian and Lena Luthor visited back in season 2. It was then seen in action when Lillian herself wore it in a bid to kill Morgan Edge in season 3. It ended up destroyed, but parts of it were used by Lena in her fight with Mercy Graves earlier in season 4. Given that, it makes sense that Lex – now that he’s out of jail – would repair it and use it again. Likely in battle with his nemesis’ cousin, Kara Zor-El.

Promos have teased that the villain will be teaming up with the Red Daughter to combat the Girl of Steel. If Kara has to face a clone of herself and a suited-up Luthor, it sounds like she’ll definitely have her work cut out for her. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see though how things develop as Supergirl season 4 continues Sundays on The CW.
