Supergirl arrives on The CW this Fall after making the leap from CBS, and star David Harewood took to Instagram this weekend to reveal the premiere’s title. While it would be nice if it revealed the mystery surrounding who – or what – landed on Earth in that crashed Krytonian vessel, it instead pays homage to the cousin of Kara Danvers.
Titled “The Adventures of Supergirl,” it clearly references both The Adventures of Superman radio and television shows from the 40s/50s and Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from the 90s. It’s also the title of the Girl of Steel’s digital comic book series, though that’s more than likely little more than a coincidence.
Regardless of why it was chosen, this is a very cool choice for the title which nicely sets the stage for a new era of adventures featuring Supergirl. It’s thought that The CW will be giving the show a full season order, and they’re hoping to attract fans by having Superman appear in the first two episodes before original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter pops up in a surprising role in the third.
Things are looking bright for Supergirl now that the series is on the same network as Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more intel on what to expect from season two when the cast and creators come to the San Deigo Comic-Con later this month.
