Having already treated us to a new trailer and promotional poster this month, it looks as though The CW aren’t through spoiling us with goodies pertaining to The Flash‘s fifth season. This time, they deliver with quite the intriguing synopsis hyping the premiere episode, which has been appropriately titled “Nora.”
To be honest, the disclosing of the following description was to be expected, as the network often drops nuggets such as these three weeks ahead of showtime. That said, we should be receiving at least a couple more teasing the next two episodes before the premiere even airs.
Without further delay though, here’s what to expect when the story resumes:
After an unexpected guest from the future, Nora West-Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy), appears at their home, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton,) must figure out how to get her back to the future without disrupting the timeline…even more than she already has. Team Flash must work together to send Nora back, while simultaneously fighting off another villainous meta. David McWhirter directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Sam Chalsen.
If anything, this synopsis reaffirms our assumption that season 5 will pick up seconds after where last May’s finale left off, an impression that’d previously been given by promotional images from the episode in question. When you think about it, it’d really make sense to go this route because I doubt Nora would keep her family hanging for the entire summer after telling them she royally screwed up.
Additionally, one could surmise that the “villainous meta” being referenced is that of Gridlock, who happened to be the subject of a recent close-up. I guess I can breathe a sigh of relief now because I’m really glad that such a goofy mask won’t be sported by Cicada.
The Flash returns for its fifth season on Tuesday, October 9 on The CW.
