New Teaser For Gotham Highlights The Villains

The commercials and teases for Fox's highly anticipated fall show Gotham, which will chart the origins of Commissioner Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) as he works his way up through Gotham City's corrupt police department, have largely focused on Gordon himself, but the latest teaser for the series reminds us that Gotham will also work to introduce some of Batman's most iconic rogues - before the Caped Crusader ever donned his mask.

The commercials and teases for Fox’s highly anticipated fall show Gotham, which will chart the origins of Commissioner Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) as he works his way up through Gotham City’s corrupt police department, have largely focused on Gordon himself, but the latest teaser for the series reminds us that Gotham will also work to introduce some of Batman’s most iconic rogues – albeit before the Caped Crusader ever donned his mask.

The familiar faces Gordon will encounter in season 1 of Gotham include Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Camren Bicondova), along with new character Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), a ruthless crime boss. Edward Nymga/The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) also has a role on the show – though he’s actually working for the GCPD as a forensic scientist when Gotham opens.

Also starring on the series are Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, David Mazouz as a young Bruce Wayne, Donal Logue as Gordon’s partner and mentor Harvey Bullock, Zabryna Guevara as his boss Sarah Essen and Erin Richards as his doting wife Barbara.

Gotham will premiere on Fox this fall. Check out the new trailer below and let us know which villains you’re most excited to see.

Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker. GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), GOTHAM follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.
