Once the new season trailer dropped, hype among fans skyrocketed through the hypothetical charts, as more and more people eagerly looked forward to the release of the second season. However, international fans will have to exercise a bit more patience, as the show will only be accessible on Disney Plus starting July 19, a month after its U.S. release.

The upcoming season guarantees the return of the entire main cast, ensuring fans will reunite with the beloved familiar faces. Allen White will once again take the lead as Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto, the dedicated chef determined to save his late brother’s struggling restaurant. Carmy will continue to showcase his culinary prowess while battling his job challenges alongside his own personal demons. His unwavering passion for the restaurant will continue to drive him to keep the ship afloat, even amidst all the turbulence that will surely be ahead.

Helping Carmy in the management (or rather, pretending to) is Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richard ‘Richie’ Jerimovich, Michael’s best friend and the brash yet caring de facto manager. With a dynamic akin to cousins, Richie is likely to challenge Carmy and Sydney’s ideas while relentlessly protecting the crew from unwelcome visitors. Expect Richie to bring his trademark chaos, doses of Xanax, and a whole lot of love into the mix during the second season.

The remaining members of the kitchen crew will also come back to the kitchen, ensuring the weekly doses of chaos. Ayo Edebiri will return as Sydney Adam, as the chef continues to undergo personal growth and explore her identity as a chef. Lionel Boyce will come back as Marcus, the talented yet inexperienced pastry chef, while Liza Colón-Zayas, Edwin Lee Gibson, and Corey Hendrix will portray Tina, Ebraheim, and Gary respectively, the dedicated line cooks. The dishwashers, José Cervantes as Angel and Richard Esteras as Manny, will also be back at their stations.

Regarding the recurring characters, the trailer has already reintroduced Oliver Platt as Jimmy Cicero, the Berzatto siblings’ uncle, who is expected to play an even more important role in the upcoming season. Matty Matheson will return as the somewhat dependable handyman, Neil Fak, and Abby Elliot will reprise her role as Natalie ‘Sugar’ Berzatto, Carmy’s sister. Furthermore, the cast will be enriched by new additions, including Molly Gordon and Bob Odenkirk, although the details of their characters remain unknown.

In contrast to last year’s season finale, which offered a poignant and hopeful season finale, The Bear is set to dive back into the fast-paced chaos of the restaurant’s continuous and persistent issues. From financial struggles and drug-related complications to the ongoing challenges of running a restaurant that was doomed to fail a few too many times, the upcoming season will surely bring back the mayhem from its previous installment.

According to the official synopsis, both Carmy and Sydney will undergo profound personal and professional transformations as they confront their pasts and strive to discover their future and identities, redefining themselves as chefs along the way. The restaurant itself will also experience a literal transformation, with new contractors coming in to revamp the establishment, pushing the boundaries of the staff’s relationships and testing their professional and empathic abilities.

With an abundance of exciting plotlines in store, The Bear‘s first season is still available for rewatch on Hulu while you eagerly await the season 2 premiere on June 22.
