Offering fans of the hit show a sight of his dark and brooding vision, the nine-second clip is a stark mash-up of different elements both old and new, including glimpses of the Unsullied, more ravens and Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow. It’s not an awful lot to go on, realistically, but the footage does indicate that HBO is prepping a full-length trailer for the fifth season that will likely debut online in the coming weeks.

Focusing on the fourth and fifth books if George R.R. Martin’s seminal series — A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons, respectively — Games of Thrones season 5 will once again beckon viewers back to the fantastical realm of Westeros. Fans of Martin’s novels will know all too well that those two books each contain a myriad of notable events. Events that push many of the big-name stars even further from their comfort zones.

Speaking of which, Arya Stark has fast become one of the most loved and indeed talked about characters in the show. She’s a character that has grown up before our very eyes, with the harsh and unforgiving Seven Kingdoms forcing her to be wiser than her years. But season 5 is poised to take that dynamic one further by transforming Arya altogether. Last we seen of Ned Stark’s daughter, she was on her way to the merchant city of Braavos, and Entertainment Weekly has offered up a glimpse at her new look.

Sporting jewellery and braided hair, it’s certainly a departure from the Arya we know, and is just another example of her resilience and ability to adapt to her surroundings. Valar Morghulis indeed.

Game of Thrones Season 5 will have its premiere on Sunday, April 5.
