Former White House press secretary Katie Zacharia grilled by Piers Morgan with ‘robot’ jab, she says: ‘I do not sound like a robot’

"Does Donald Trump have some program plugged into you to make you come out with this stuff?"

For five days, Kate Zacharia reigned as the White House press secretary. Before this, she’d worked as an “Independent Team Beachbody distributor,” briefly been the deputy assistant secretary for public affairs for the Department of Homeland Security before quitting because the commute was too long, and was then the communications advisor to the Trump Media and Technology Group.

Her brief stint as White House press secretary was widely criticized by both Republicans and Democrats. Many noted that her only press conference was stiff, awkward and nervous, and that she inadvertently referred to Donald Trump as her “husband.“

Soon after that came claims that she’d lied about passing the bar exam, resulting in her admitting that despite previously claiming to be an “attorney,” she wasn’t. On Oct. 16, the hammer came down and she was fired.

“When it comes to loyalty… he did fire you after five days”

Now she’s reflected on her experiences in an interview with Piers Morgan on his Uncensored YouTube show. Zacharia insisted that she’s happy being in California and that she’ll still be fighting for Donald Trump “every single day, no matter how hard the media wants to spin. No matter how hard anchors, pundits, reporters, journalists want to spin what he’s doing and focus it on me.”

Then, after insisting this was nothing personal and refusing to give her side of a conversation Trump had already made public, Morgan went for the jugular: “Katie, Katie, Katie, timeout. Timeout. The whole point of this interview was that it’s about you. You know that and I know that, so come on. Let’s cut the crap here and have a serious, genuine conversation. You’re sounding like a robot. Does Donald Trump have some program plugged into you to make you come out with this stuff?”

Morgan added, “I know Donald very well. I know the president very well. I’m sure he won’t mind me asking you how you’re feeling, how it went down, all of that stuff. You’re not going to be betraying his loyalty, and when it comes to loyalty… he did fire you after five days… He did it very nicely but…”

Zacharia said she “took issue” with this and insisted: “I do not sound like a robot to… to your point. What I am is trying to continue a conversation in a forward trajectory about President Trump is doing.”

Responses in the comments were what you’d expect. Based on this interview, some are sad that we only got one press conference from Zacharia: “Ok this was hilarious, it’s not fair that we only got one press conference” and that, “She is definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer.” One of the most liked replies was even blunter: “Dishonest, deceptive, delusional, avoidant, word salads, dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.”

As for Zacharia’s next career move? Well, after her firing, White House communications officials said she’d be “transitioning into a new role that will be announced at a later date.” This new role has not been confirmed. However, Zacharia has said that she’d like to have one more try at being the White House press secretary.
