Woman posts her vacation flight to France on TikTok. Two days later, she is being sent home from a refugee camp: ‘Broke the golden rule’

Her French getaway became a detention story.

A woman said she was denied entry to France, held for two days, and sent home after she posted about her vacation flight in real time. The TikTok video from @kbenzzz_, which has gained hundreds of thousands of views, opened with her at an airport gate holding two pink passports. On-screen text read, “POV: you broke the golden rule and posted your vacation real time.”

The video then showed her posing with a friend in a yellow outfit while seated in airport chairs. It cut to her walking down the jet bridge with a large black woven bag and a garment bag, followed by a view of clouds and the plane’s engine from the window. The sequence presented the early stages of a trip to France.

The tone changed when the video displayed a French document titled “REFUS D’ENTRÉE.” Additional on-screen text stated, “And immediately jinxed it Lost my passport on the plane, got denied entry, put in a refugee camp for 2 days and got sent back home.” The clip closed with a security officer walking away and the creator sitting on a plane while wiping tears from her eyes.

Creator describes losing passport and time in detention

In a comment under the video, the creator wrote, “literally traumatized.” She later replied to another comment with more details about what she said occurred after she left her passport behind.

She wrote that she used her passport to board the plane and left it there by accident. In the same reply, she stated that the airline would not let her back on the plane and said they could not find it, even though she told them exactly where she left it. She added that everyone at the airport acted like they did not speak English.

She wrote that they detained her for 2 days until her flight back to Canada. The video itself carried the simple caption, “Never again.” Airport trouble with travel documents has gone viral before, like the story of the woman who flew without a wallet or ID.

Viewers reacted to the decision to post while still traveling. One commenter questioned whether real-time updates were common and wrote, “That’s a thing? I always post in real time.” Another described a different personal approach and stated, “Maybe I’m too African for this but I never post anything I do in real time.”

A third commenter called the outcome extreme and wrote, “Nahhhh this is the worst case scenario.” Another offered direct advice and said, “Never ever do that! Always post when you get back home.” Travel stories like this are a TikTok staple, including one about a flight attendant screamed at by passengers who shared a rough day on the job.
