Vincent D’Onofrio casually drops a major spoiler on the future of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Now that's what we call a king(pin)-size spoiler.

Daredevil: Born Again has only just gone before cameras, but it seems the Disney Plus revival of the beloved Netflix series has a long journey ahead of it. Marvel fans were delighted when not only was the project greenlit in the first place, but that it was given a mammoth 18-episode order — making it the longest MCU streaming show to date by a wide margin. And thanks to a surprisingly loose-lipped star, we can now say there will be even more beyond that.

Speaking to Newsweek, the Kingpin himself Vincent D’Onofrio opened up about why he’s so excited for the fans to get to see what the Born Again cast and crew is cooking up right now on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen. While his promise that “the show is going to be very, very different than the Netflix show” might cause some to break out into a cold sweat, he did stress that it will “answer the fans” and offer “an original way to look at this, and it’s really deep, really emotional.”

This is all well and good, but it’s D’Onofrio’s final comments about the new Daredevil that grabs our attentions the most. The Jurassic World actor went on to add that there will be “gigantic, gigantic payoffs” once it comes to the show’s second season. Wait, what?

“And, by the second season, there are gigantic, gigantic payoffs—in the first season, too, but I can’t say much about that—but the fans are gonna really get what they want. It’s really quite cool to be doing it.”

Yes, it appears that D’Onofrio has just leaked that Marvel Studios is already developing a second season of Born Again. Or, at least, that the creative team are hoping for more. Although you’d have to imagine that, given Matt Murdock’s popularity with fans, Kevin Feige and company would want the same. Even with the studio’s streaming output being streamlined.

Before we get too carried away thinking about its second season, though, the first batch of Daredevil: Born Again episodes are due out in the first half of 2024.
