The Hawkeye actor took to Twitter late Thursday night to share he was “studying late tonight,” but upon finishing, he wanted to share his review before hitting the hay: “@JamesGunn’s @DCpeacemaker Is frick’n awesome!”

Gunn was obviously appreciative of the remark, tweeting an emoji gesture of gratitude in response.

It’s great to see someone from across the aisle of comic book cinematic universes heaping praise on a DC show. D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk is a character praised by many in the world of Marvel, first appearing in the 2015 Netflix Daredevil show and recently reprising the role for the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper in the Disney Plus series Hawkeye

D’Onofrio isn’t alone in his positive assessment of the show, as fans, Goosebumps author R.L. Stine, and comedian Patton Oswalt have all expressed much enthusiasm for the HBO Max series. In addition, the show is a favorite among critics, garnering a staggering 94% critical score on the review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes as of press time.

The show is a continuation of Gunn’s excellent The Suicide Squad film from last year, in which John Cena’s Christopher Smith, AKA Peacemaker, is once again recruited by a Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller for another high stakes Task Force X mission.

Catch the first three episodes of Peacemaker on HBO Max now, with subsequent episodes released each week on Thursdays.
