WandaVision Fans Freaking Out Over Elizabeth Olsen’s Emmy Nomination

Fans have been clamoring for Elizabeth Olsen to get some small screen awards season recognition for her performance in Disney Plus series WandaVision, and with good reason. While she's only one half of the title pairing, Wanda Maximoff is required to do the majority of the emotional and dramatic heavy lifting, especially when you consider she's trying to keep her onscreen husband unaware of how he came into existence.

Fans have been clamoring for Elizabeth Olsen to get some small screen awards season recognition for her performance in Disney Plus series WandaVision, and with good reason. While she’s only one half of the title pairing, Wanda Maximoff is required to do the majority of the emotional and dramatic heavy lifting, especially when you consider she’s trying to keep her onscreen husband unaware of how he came into existence.

It’s an astonishing turn, and without a doubt some of the best acting we’ve ever seen from any member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s sprawling roster dating right back to 2008’s Iron Man. There have been numerous calls to see Olsen gain an Emmy nomination for her powerhouse tour-de-force, and the supporters have now gotten their wish.

WandaVision picked up a whopping 23 nods for the upcoming Emmys, with the key creative players on either side of the camera shortlisted in virtually all of the major categories. As you can see from the reactions below, though, most of the excitement was focused on Olsen being up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.

While it would be nothing short of a travesty were Olsen to have missed the cut, there’s no guarantees that she’ll end up walking away with the prize when the trophies are dished out in September, and the field for this category is arguably one of the strongest in Emmy history.

The other contenders are The Queen’s Gambit‘s Anya Taylor-Joy, who’s already nabbed the corresponding Golden Globe, awards season darling Kate Winslet for Mare of Easttown, Cynthia Eviro’s phenomenal work as Aretha Franklin in the Genius anthology series named after the soul legend, and I May Destroy You‘s Michaela Coel, so it’s a tough task for WandaVision‘s leading lady to come out on top.
