Wednesday and Tyler in Netflix's 'Wednesday'
via Netflix

‘Wednesday’ makes a point of praising Jenna Ortega while teasing what’s to come in season 2

Not even the cast can get enough of Jenna Ortega.

From their onscreen romance to their offscreen friendship, Wednesday‘s Hunter Doohan has shown his admiration for Jenna Ortega, unable to suppress the praise for his co-star. As a little gift to fans, he also weighed in on Tyler’s future on the show.

The actor responsible for bringing the sweet and well-humored Tyler to the Netflix hit series has shared some insight with ET on what’s to come for the second installment of the series, which, unsurprisingly, wasn’t much. In January, his co-star Ortega shared her own knowledge of the second season, and much like the actress, Doohan knows very little about what’s to come, blaming it on not receiving the scripts just yet. Coincidentally, the same reasoning behind Ortega’s own lack of information.

“I’m not even hiding anything. I really don’t know. I’m really excited because now that Tyler’s secret is out of the bag, I’m excited for season 2 to kind of explore him fighting between the monster and the real version of him. And also, he doesn’t have his master, Christina Ricci, anymore, so what’s he gonna be like? I don’t know.”

In spite of not knowing what the future might hold, the actor assured he is “so excited to go back,” even if he “can’t really say anything besides that.” Naturally, the interview did not end there, as the 29-year-old weighed in on Ortega’s success, which has completely imploded on TikTok and social media, thus making her one of the most popular and successful online stars in recent years. “I’m so happy,” he said, “Jenna deserves all the success in the world.”

The entire cast of Wednesday has certainly been dealing with the sudden success of the show, which came at a breakneck speed. Despite this abrupt fame knocking on their doors, Doohan admitted that the Scream VI star is dealing with a lot more on her plate, while handling it beautifully.

“She’s doing a stellar job, and she’s getting it tenfold of what the rest of us are having to deal with.”

Wednesday‘s first season is available on Netflix, with the platform green-lighting the second season not long after the show’s release. There is still no release date for the second installment.
