Grace Van Dien has taken a break from acting in Hollywood recently — and for good reason — as she claims a movie producer pressured her for sex on the set of a movie she was working on. The actress discussed the situation on her stream and explained that she’d rather stick to streaming for the time being.
Van Dien caught a majority of people’s attention when she appeared in the fourth season of Stranger Things. She played Chrissy Cunningham, the head cheerleader at Hawkins High and won over fans of the show with her take on the character and chemistry with on-screen love interest Eddie Munson, played by Joseph Quinn.
Unfortunately, her time on the show was cut brutally short as Chrissy begins to experience horrifying hallucinations and it’s revealed that she is being hunted by the series’ villain, Vecna. Although she tries everything in her power to stop what she believes to be hallucinations, even looking to buy drugs from Eddie, nothing works and she ends up being violently murdered at the end of her debut episode. It’s safe to say that viewers were traumatized by her gory death.
Her untimely demise only left fans wanting more for her character with the Duffer brothers themselves even admitting that they may have made a mistake in killing her so soon into the fourth season. It was made all the more heartbreaking as there felt like a genuine connection between hers and Quinn’s characters. Fans poured their grief out online as is the custom when a favorite bites the dust.
Before Stranger Things, the actress appeared in multiple movies and TV shows including V is for Vengeance, What Comes Around, and Greenhouse Academy. However, Chrissy has been her most memorable role for most audiences and probably will be for quite some time.
Van Dien seems content to continue with her streaming currently and fans are happy that she’s doing something that makes her happy and doesn’t expose her to the Hollywood creeps. Will we ever see her on our screens again? It’s possible. During her stream, Van Dien discussed big plans to set up her own studio and work on her own projects, so she could end up behind the camera rather than in front of it.
As for her character in Stranger Things, she likely won’t be popping up in the highly anticipated fifth and final season, which begins filming this May. But then again, stranger things have happened. Even Eddie’s return has been hinted, if Joseph Quinn’s response to fan questions is anything to go by.
