The Witch War Is Only Just Beginning In Trailer For Salem Season 2

Take a look at the landscape of popular network television and what do you see? A whole lotta supernatural, that's what. If it's not zombies being mowed down in The Walking Dead, or playfully reinvented in iZombie, there's plenty of otherworldly characters tackling monsters in Supernatural, Penny Dreadful and Sleepy Hollow. Another supernatural subset now on the small screen are making a return in WGN America's Salem.

If it’s not zombies being mowed down in The Walking Dead, or playfully reinvented in iZombie, there’s plenty of otherworldly characters tackling monsters in Supernatural, Penny Dreadful and Sleepy Hollow. Another supernatural subset are now making a return to the small screen in season 2 of WGN America’s Salem.

Based around a gaggle of witches in 17th-century Salem, the show hails from 24‘s Brannon Braga and The Haunting in Connecticut‘s Adam Simon, who created and script the series. With a slew of episodes under its belt, Salem is now kicking up for its sophomore season, which bows in early April.

Upping the ante from the first time ,a brand new batch of characters has been added to boost the supporting cast, including Lucy Lawless, Stuart Townsend, Joe Doyle and Oliver Bell. Salem returns to WGN America on April 5.

Season two opens at the dawn of the witch war set into motion at the end of season one, with its catalyst and Salem’s deadliest witch, Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) at the center of the mayhem as she faces off against new and old adversaries vying for her throne. In the wake of the destruction caused by the Grand Rite, completed by Mary and inadvertently triggered by Isaac Walton (Iddo Goldberg) in the season one finale, the fates of Captain John Alden (Shane West), Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel), Tituba (Ashley Madekwe), Anne Hale (Tamzin Merchant), Mercy Lewis (Elise Eberle) and Isaac hang in the balance.
